Why Mego?
The name is a play on words. Me, go cook Australian. It is the little voice that nudges you toward the kitchen when you are craving something familiar — a meat pie, a pavlova, a slab of damper torn apart while it is still warm.
Mego was created to celebrate the food Australians actually cook and eat. We are not a restaurant guide or a food-trend factory. We are a home-cooking companion, focused on recipes that work in real kitchens with real ingredients.
What we publish
- Tested recipes — every dish is made at least twice in a home kitchen before it is published.
- Native ingredient guides — practical ways to cook with lemon myrtle, macadamia, wattleseed and more.
- The stories behind the dishes — where recipes come from, why they matter, and how they have changed over time.
Editorial standards
We write our own content and take our own photography where possible. When we use third-party images, we credit the source and choose Creative Commons or public-domain material. We do not publish clickbait, health claims we cannot verify, or recipes we have not tested.
